There are real fears that up to 70 percent of girls will soon be in early or forced marriages in Afghanistan. To make matters worse, a new law now means that divorce at any future stage would be totally impossible if the husband were to disagree. Activists say this shameful new law will further place girls and women in a subordinate, legally unequal position to men. Mursal Sayas, a writer, journalist and founder of the NGO Women Beyond Borders told us more in Perspective.
