Several high-rise buildings damaged in Venezuela’s capital
A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Venezuela’s capital, Caracas, on Wednesday, damaging several high-rise buildings.
Videos from the scene show large cracks in the walls of high-rise buildings and smoke rising from the streets. There have been no immediate reports of casualties.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter was located about 21 km west of the city of Morón on Venezuela’s Caribbean coast. The earthquake was felt across several regions of Venezuela, as well as in neighboring Colombia.

El Diario reported several injuries in Guatire, a city east of Caracas.
