Portugal needed to beat Colombia to reclaim first place in Group K. But in the end, it was Colombia who came closest to victory. The two teams ultimately drew.

A dream scenario for DR Congo, which qualified for the Round of 32 after a 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan. They are among nine African teams to reach the knockout stage. Only Tunisia were eliminated in the group stage.

In rugby, Toulouse won the French championship for the fourth consecutive time. The “Red and Black” defeated Montpellier in the final, in a match disrupted by thunderstorms.

In swimming, Léon Marchand made his long-awaited return to France for the first time since the Paris Olympic Games. And, unsurprisingly, the 24-year-old dominated the competition.
