Mali’s international Mamadou Sangaré is heading to the Premier League following a stellar season with french club Lens. He has officially joined Brentford in a landmark €48 million transfer, setting a new record sale for the French club.

Following her sprint victory on the first stage of the Tour de France, Dutch rider Lorena Wiebes took the yellow jersey as leader of the general classification. Defending champion and favourite Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt finished eighth. Today, the peloton will compete in a new stage between Aigle and Geneva, Switzerland.

In swimming, Léon Marchand has allayed concerns about his participation in the ongoing European Championships in Paris. Despite his adductor injury, the French swimmer believes he has a chance in the butterfly and freestyle events, but has ruled out the breaststroke.
